The camera is positioned, pointing downwards, on one or two vertical columns usually about 12 ft  (3.6 m) height, and may be moved upward and down ward by means of electric device. This movement is called tracking or zooming.

It is part of animation stand. The work, which is usually in the form of a number of transparent sheets known as `cel’ is located in position by a system of pegs and by a glass  platten  which  usually  has  an  aperture of 1 ft 2 in X 9 in and thus hold the work flat. The pegs are fitted to tracks which may be moved in 1/100 in increments from side to side (east to west) or further away or closer towards the operator(north to south). The peg tracks may also be rotated or moved on a diagonal(compound)[diagonal tracking, compound tracking] and additional floating peg tracks  [floating peg tracking] may be used to locate gels independly.
