A scenery stabilizing device. Stability requirements
range from simply ensuring that- the construction will not fall over to
permitting people to lean or walk on them. Hoists have generally supplemented
earlier block and tackle facilities. They provide safety suspension for heavy
or unbalanced scenic pieces, including high walls, ceiling,
roofs, trees and columns. They can be used, too,
to hang light weight scenic dressing and scenic equipment (e.g. Drapes,
chandeliers, branches, shadow gobos)
