CAMERA CABLE [Film Technology]

Camera cable

[Film Technology]

The cable attaching the camera head’s circuits [camera head circuit]to the remainder of its associated electronic equipment(e.g. camera control unit). It carries video signals (picture signal), power, scanning wave forms etc.. The camera cable is vital line between the television camera head and its camera control unit. Function :  To bring the camera out-put of the camera (the video) from the studio floor to be electronically processed and then fed to the vision mixer; and to convey supplies of various types of the camera itself. The different types of wire within  camera cable carry various signals and supplies, including the picture out-put, from the camera, synchronizing pulses, electrical power, talk back circuits to the camera, and specialized voltage feeds to ensure correct operation of the pick-up tube.  The cable inter connecting the camera to its control equipment [CCU/CPU] supplies voltage and wave forms to the camera, and routes its video for amplification and video distribution. It may have multi-wire cable/multi core cable[e.g. 100-300m maximum] coaxial cable [e.g. 700-1200 m maximum] or glass fibre strand construction [fibre optics]. The last is lightest, interference free and robust, allowing considerable distances [e.g. over 4000 m] between a camera and its control equipment.[in video camera].
