Carrier wave

Carrier Wave, radio waves that can be used to carry modulated signals. Programme signals (audio signal, video
signal, etc.) are
impressed on the carrier by frequency modulation (FM) or amplitude modulation (AM). The carrier wave is
usually kept at a fixed frequency by the transmitter and is detected in the receiver by a resonant circuit at the carrier frequency. A message is sent by changing the carrier
wave's amplitude or its phase proportional to the desired transmission signal. If the amplitude is changed, amplitude modulation results, and a change of phase results in phase modulation, a form of frequency modulation.
